1970 Choir Trip to Houston

On the TEXAS STAR we have Bongo girls:

going clockwise starting at 9:00 we have Jkle, Bbow, Cfar, Jpen & Ccra.

The Bus rides were fanstastic with games, flirting, fun, fun & more fun!

First we have Cfar styling in her shades. Then lookie at Dkee!!!!

Check out the sideburns Dkee has a hold of...Gbar!

Jeff was always funny.

1969 Camp Sagamore

JACKSON'S JALOPIES

It is 1969 and we have finished 9th grade! We are all about 14 years old.

Our camp group was named after our Camp Counselor, Donna Jackson. (see her picture below sitting on the bed, the look on her face is What have I gotten myself into?).

Top picture in the CUTE HOT PINK sweatshirts are Jpen, & not sure - is it Cathy or Debbie, then there is Jkle's cousin Sherry, I think.

Sittin' on top of the bed is Dcog and Dkee, looks like they are playing poker! nah!

Remember NO MIXED SWIMMING with the BOYS, the girl's swimming pool was where we went every afternoon.

I do remember Mrs. Jackson was very nice, and shortly after camp was over we learned she had been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Wonder where she is today?

Where Are My Panties?

Recently I have been asked what was my most embarrassing moment. The first thing that comes to mind is the phrase that I yelled "Where are my panties?" one Sunday morning from one of the stalls of the Women's restroom of SHBC. We were 13 or 14 years old, young women all dressed in our Sunday best - I remember Jkle (who could forget her laugh) and Bbow, could have been others in there too. Seemed like 50 of you laughing at me. Girls, we had just started wearing a new invention called pantyhose. I think I have said enough. TMI, you know.

Now what was your most embarrassing moment?

1971 Camp Sagamore

1971, a very good year! We just finished the the 10th grade! (15 & 16 year olds) I drove to camp in my pink car (really a muted rose tone, but we called it PINK). The car is shown behind the girls in this picture below. I do remember having a flat driving to Latham Springs!

Cfar, Jkle, Stho & Tste

Here we are ready for our skit, was it a kindergarten class or what, I can't remember! Rigby's Rompers or what?

We have D?--, Jhar, ?---, Jkle, Skni, Bbow, J---, Dpax, Dcog and Ccra on the ground. I need help filling in the blanks! Is that Jkle cousin?
Below are shots of our cabin and the stuff we used to do. Everything is PINK! Were we the Pink somethings?

I do believe above is Jpen with Mmor & Cfar(?) These are the tiniest photos! No wonder my dad liked making 8 X 10 s ! Funny, below is Dpax, she is wearing MY SHIRT! She didnt want hers to get messed up during the Rumble! She has shaving cream all over, and I never saw my shirt again!

We have Cfar & Bbow blowing in the window unit, then Dpax is a happy camper.... Tste and Stho look as if they are zoned out. And Miss Ccra - words escape me!

I found one of me that looks like I was trying to get away fast, away from the stinky bathrooms. Jkle & Dpax doing mirror duty in the background.

I think this is the year I remember scarey ghost stories at the campfire ....OWA TAGOO SIAM .... Thanks to Mr. Klempanauer!

Did we sing? Yes, all the time!

My first memory of singing together is 3rd grade church choir, with Trevelyn Ray as our director. I was so shy! We soon progressed to the Sextet group above is April 1967:Dkel, Skni, Jpen, Bbow, Jkle, Dcog.

Later in junior high, we expanded our ensemble and the rumor was that I only had ONE LUNG! Yes, I told Don McCall I only had one lung so I didn't have to hold my note so long. Shame on me, lol. Oh the things we did to him. Then later we were in the ensemble Inheritance (is that the right name?) and that group had guys & girls.

Music is part of our life. Dcog still plays the piano to this day! She is very gifted. She has played the piano for 2 of my weddings and was a bridesmaid in the first one. Dkel has sung in a acapella adult group as well as sung in one of my weddings. Stho graduated from Baylor music dept. and teaches music in Crowley schools. I think we all have been part of adult church choirs since. Music has blessed my life.

What's Up Bongos? The Bongo Bloggers - can you believe how far we have come since the Ouija board! Just think about that slumber party and all the talk, food, music and twister games. We really go back many years prior to 1973.... the first picture I will post will be 1969 at Six Flags. What were we doing? Of course I am not in the picture, cus I was holding the camera. "Jkle" was the leader in search of boys!

Dont worry all, i will post more & more pictures of everyone. You know I have them!
